Two Bucket Method

The two bucket car washing method is the secret to a professional clean that leaves your paint without scratches or swirls.

1. Prepare your buckets

Fill your first bucket (A) with your soap solution. If using McLaren #37 you'll mix 3 cap-fulls with 3 gallons of clean water. Fill your second bucket (B) full of clean water. This bucket will be for rinsing your mitt only.

2. Start Washing

Start at the top of your car and work your way down. Using a high quality wash mitt, gently scrub away contaminants using linear movement. Never move in circles.

3. Rinse & Repeat

After washing a section, dip your mitt into bucket B to rinse off any dirt or grit. Use the grid guard to help release debris from the mitt. Then, dip back into Bucket A to reharge with your soap solution and continue washing.

Supplies You'll Need

  • High Quality Wash Mitt
  • Car Wash Solution
  • Bucket with Grit Guard (2)

Why even bother?

The two bucket method focuses on reducing scratches and swirl marks in your paint. You get these from dragging dust or debris across the surface of your paint during cleaning. This especially noticable in black paint.
