Brake calipers house the pistons and braking pads required to slow down your vehicle and come to a complete stop.
When you press on the brake pedal the pistons inside your calipers engage and apply pressure to your brake pads. As the pads wear against your rotors–brake dust is generated. This is what ends up coating your wheels and calipers if left untreated.
Heat resistance and corrosion are the two key differences.
There are tons of plastic caliper covers out there that will simply melt from the heat generated by your vehicle's brakes! And covering them up doesn't prevent them from corroding with time.
Brake dust is a part of normal vehicle operation. There's no way around that. But it is much easier to clean if your calipers are painted and not untreated.

You betcha! If you decide to change up the color scheme of your build, we can always go back over painted calipers. To ensure the highest quality, we'll sand down the existing paint to give your new coat an optimal surface to bond to!
